Proctor test interpretation

Nourin reads the Proctor curve polynomial calculated by CiviLab, extracts the optimum and rates the material's sensitivity to water content during compaction.

What Nourin reads in the sheet

  • The test points and the polynomial coefficients fitted by CiviLab;
  • The test type (standard or modified) and the polynomial degree;
  • The particle density and the mold volume;
  • The project units: kN/m³, t/m³ or pcf;

What Nourin does with it

  • Locates the optimum: optimum water content and maximum dry density;
  • Measures the curve width at 98% of γd max, an indicator of the available compaction margin;
  • Rates the curve shape and the soil's sensitivity to water content;
  • Gives the GTR moisture state of the material at the water content considered;
  • Writes the compaction conclusions for the sheet;
The polynomial is not refitted: Nourin uses exactly the curve CiviLab produced.
