Borehole log interpretation

Nourin reads the log interval by interval, rates the rock quality and checks the lithological descriptions entered on site.

What Nourin reads in the sheet

  • The borehole intervals and their depths;
  • The recovery rate and RQD of each run;
  • The lithological descriptions written by the operator;

What Nourin does with it

  • Rates rock quality according to Deere (1964), an RQD below 25% indicating very poor quality;
  • Checks the lithological vocabulary against a bilingual French-English geotechnical lexicon;
  • Corrects safe typing errors — spaces, case, punctuation — and flags the rest without changing it;
  • Writes the borehole summary;
Substantive corrections are never applied automatically: they are suggested, with a safeguard against false positives.
